my heart in all of this

After photographing hundreds of weddings over the years, I've realized one really important thing: the point in all of this – your marriage – sometimes gets lost a little in the planning process. Along with creating beautiful images for you, my passion is giving you the permission and support to plan the day that YOU truly want.

I want to show off how your love actually FEELS. Whether you want your day to be super intimate vowing to forever with one another surrounded by nature, or a raging party that lasts through the night under the open-air dance floor surrounded by twinkle lights, the stars, and your favorite people. As long as you're choosing what's true to you, I'm so here for it.

Try not to listen to the noise of what everyone else says you have to do. This is your permission to make the choices YOU want for your day. I'll be there laughing, crying, and celebrating with you two the whole way through.

I wouldn't recommend them if I didn't love 'em!
I know you will, too!

Vendor Recommendations

Our session will last 1.5 - 2 hours, includes your choice of location (or 2 nearby spots if you can't choose a fave!) and multiple outfits. keep in mind, the more locations and outfits means more variety but fewer images in each look or at each location, since we have to factor in driving, changing, etc.! You can expect a minimum of 100 images in your gallery!

What's Included

01 of 03

I recommend planning 2 outfits to make the best use of our time! Typically, One fancy and one casual outfit is perfect. Dressy doesn't have to mean a ballgown or a suit - I always want you to look and feel like yourselves, but feel free to spice up your everyday vibe for this special occasion! I'll send you a What to Wear Guide to help you with planning outfits and props!

What to Wear

02 of 03

Since weekends are dedicated to weddings, I schedule engagement sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings about 2 hours before sunset. Our start time is simply based on the sunset time at the time of year you're considering! I will be in touch soon after booking your wedding photography with me, so we can plan a date and time and get your dream session on the calendar!

my personal fave!

Engagement Session

This is one of the FIRST steps of your experience with me, which also makes it SUPER exciting! There are two main perks of our time together (besides getting gorgeous photos, of course):
1. Spend more time together and get to know each other better!
2. Dedicated time to get comfortable in front of my camera, learn how I work and pose, and become PROS for when your wedding day comes!

What to Expect

You may be feeling a little nervous about being in front of the camera, and that's completely normal! It's not every day that you have your photos taken while kissing and cuddling up together!

I want to encourage you to relax, embrace it, and focus on having a good time. I'll give you tons of direction and guidance, so you always know what to do. We'll capture timeless, playful, and meaningful photos that will help you celebrate this exciting time in your love story.

All you two have to do is show up ready to kiss, laugh, and be in love – doesn't sound too bad, right?! I'll take care of the rest. :)

Tips & Tricks

BE ON TIME: The sun is only out for so long! The later you arrive, the less time we have to shoot. Running late and feeling rushed doesn't create a calm, stress-free vibe. Plan plenty of time to get ready, find parking, and arrive on time, so you can show up with relaxed and happy energy!

BRINGING PETS: I adore all furbabies, so naturally, I LOVE it when you bring them along! The best way to include them is to have someone else join us to take care of your them during the shoot. They can bring them for just a portion of the session and bring them back home so you they can relax when their modeling is done!

CLEAN THE RING: I love to take a few ring shots while you change outfits and throughout the session, so give that baby a nice shine! Try the Diamond Dazzle Stick for on-the-go cleaning!

EMPTY YOUR POCKETS: You don’t want to have keys, phones, wallets, etc. showing through your pockets. Bring a little bag to pop your belongings into. Bonus points if the bag is cute, so you can still carry it from spot to spot and I can keep taking photos along the way!

BE COMFORTABLE: Make sure you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing. Make it make sense for the environment (heels while hiking.. maybe not!) and make sure you LOVE every aspect of it! Don't love your arms? Go for a top with sleeves. Don't love the cold? Wear a chunky sweater.

RELAX: You don’t have to be a pro at this or practice any poses beforehand! I’m going to help you every step of the way. Enjoy this time together and make a date out of it! Plan dinner afterwards and celebrate!! I mean, you're already all dressed up!

NUMBER OF OUTFITS: Most often, my couples like to have one casual, yet elevated everyday outfit and then one fancier outfit! This will give your session two totally different vibes and create a lot of variety in your gallery. I recommend either beginning with the dressy outfit first while you're at your freshest, and/or ending with your favorite outfit for the sunset!

PREPARE YOUR PARTNER: Your partner may not be overly excited to take photos, but it's mainly because they don’t know what to expect or why it’s important to you. Take a little time to dig into my work and style of photography. Show them some favorite sessions from my blog or Instagram to explain why you love them. If they know WHY it matters and that it doesn't look painfully awkward and stuff, they'll light up on camera for you! :) Most people don't love taking photos because of a bad experience in the past or don’t think they’ll be "good at it." By the time we’re done, they can’t believe how fast it went and that it was actually a lot of fun!

PROFESSIONAL HAIR & MAKEUP: I highly recommend getting pampered for your session, whether that's planning your hair and makeup trial or going to a salon. This eases the stress of you having to do it all yourself, and professional H&MU artists know how to make your look shine on camera!

Location Recommendations

First off, I want to say that I ALWAYS encourage my couples to think of session locations that have MEANING to them. This will allow us to capture more genuine images that reflect your personality. Think: Favorite date spot, where you met, where you got engaged, your wedding venue, your home, where you had your first date, etc. Some of my all-time fave locations have been hidden gems my couples know about from their own adventures that they take me to! However, if you're totally stumped for locations, no worries! We'll work together to pick a location that fits you two best!

Here is a list I've compiled of some of my favorite/most common locations for photo sessions! I love these spots in particular because I'm able to provide photos that are super consistent with what you see on my website and blog, and also provide a huge variety in backgrounds for you! If a location you're considering is not on this list, we can TOTALLY make it happen! I love exploring new spots that are special to you! Again, I encourage you to pick locations that have meaning to you. If there's a spot that is especially meaningful and would love to incorporate it, let's chat!!

Cross Estate Gardens
Bernardsville, NJ

This location is super versatile for those who love a a garden vibe! Lots of unique nooks and pathways, especially when in bloom! There's a lot to explore regardless of season. It's one of the few gardens in NJ that doesn't require a permit fee!

ADDRESS: 61 Jockey Hollow Rd, Bernardsville, NJ 07924

Downtown New Hope
New Hope, PA

If you love charming downtowns and old buildings, New Hope is such a gem! There are many options from bars/restaurants to ice cream shops and bookstores to make this session unique to your interests and love story! Lots of fun spots on the river, as well!

ADDRESS: Depends on Location

Central Park of Morris
Morristown, NJ

A perfect location for nature lovers who want that outdoorsy feel without the stress of a full hike! Tall grassy fields, a great sunset location, and a pretty secluded area so you can still get wild and fun without feeling awkward without people around!

ADDRESS: 91 Central Ave, Morris Plains, NJ 07950

Island Beach State Park
Seaside Park, NJ

Beach and nature lovers, this one's for you! There's so much to explore here. IBSP has a great variety of grassy dunes, trails, trees, and ocean views! This location is nice during late spring or early fall, so it's not too busy with summer traffic and still has good weather!

ADDRESS: 2401 Central Ave, Seaside Park, NJ 08752

Valley Forge National Park
King of Prussia, PA

This is a popular park, but it's massive, so there's always open space to take pictures! Valley Forge is a staple for fall sessions, but it's truly stunning the all seasons! Fields, stream, unique architecture, and plenty of nature – you can't beat it!

ADDRESS: 1700 Wilson Rd, Malvern, PA 19355

West Village
Manhattan, NY

Anywhere in NYC is amazing for vibrant energy, charming streets, and lots of location options. The West Village is iconic and feels a little quieter on the surrounding streets, so it's not too overwhelming for a city session. So dreamy and feels like a classic romcom!

Wedding Planners

I have had the opportunity to work with many incredible planners, from day-of coordinators to full-service planners! They can provide help for your wedding day in a way that no one else can. They also allow all your vendors to focus on their main role. A planner allows me to focus solely on taking your beautiful photos while they keep the timeline running smoothly throughout the day! Without a planner, that often becomes the photographer's role, as well! There are typically many different types of services planners offer, so here are a few to consider for different aspects of planning:

VENDOR MATCH-MAKING
Some planners offer the option of helping you with "vendor match-making." They will sit down with you and ask you what you're looking for in your different vendors, and offer the best suggestions within your budget. Planners know so many vendors and they love finding your dream team. They can help narrow down your search and stay within budget throughout the planning journey.

STYLING SERVICES
Many planners also offer day-of styling services in addition to planning. This means they will be in charge of creating the design and aesthetics along with setting up your spaces the day of. If they've worked alongside you all the way up until your wedding day, they'll know exactly how to carry out your vision perfectly. This also means your family and friends won't be running around trying to set everything up themselves. Your loved ones can relax because your planners have you covered.

BENEFITS OF A DAY-OF COORDINATOR
If nothing else, a day-of coordinator is the most helpful asset for your wedding!! It is so crucial to have a go-to person who can take care of the logistics and answer questions on your behalf. Otherwise, all the questions and decisions typically fall on the couple, the parents, or the wedding party. At that point, you want to be able to simply relax and enjoy the day, not be in charge of answering calls and making sure everyone is doing what they're supposed to be doing. Day-of coordination ideally also includes help within the last month of planning to bring everything together. What a stress reliever!

FULL-SERVICE PLANNING
If you want wedding planning to be as stress-free as possible, this is the route to go! Hire a planner EARLY – before booking all your vendors – because their expertise will save you money, stress, and time. Having a planner from your engagement all the way until the end of your wedding to help bring your vision to life, choose vendors, create your timeline, navigate logistics, and everything in between is truly a dream.

VENUE COORDINATOR
Most venues have a point person for the day of your wedding, but they are not the same as a wedding planner. A venue coordinator's MAIN focus is the VENUE (among many other tasks)! I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner for yourselves and not relying solely on the venue coordinator to get the job done. They have two different and unique roles, both of which are essential to the flow of your day!

Getting Ready

CONSIDER LOCATION DISTANCE & TRAVEL TIME
If you're choosing to get ready at a separate location from your venue, I recommend finding a location nearby so you're not traveling too far. This is one of the most special days of your lives, so spending 30 minutes to an hour (or more!) sitting in a car just to get to your venue can take a lot of time out of your day.

By getting ready at your venue or at a nearby location (within 15 minutes), you'll eliminate the risk of anything pushing the timeline off track, like unexpected traffic, a flat tire, forgetting something, etc.

If your wedding party and family can get ready at the same or nearby locations (Airbnbs, venue, or hotel), that definitely can help minimize the chance that one side of the party has a longer drive than the other, which again, could result in timeline delays.

GETTING READY SPACE
Where to get ready is a bigger factor than most people consider. If you don't love the option your venue has or if a nearby hotel isn't your vibe, opt for a local rental property (AirBnb, VRBO, Home Studio List) with great aesthetics!

I always suggest choosing a clean, spacious getting ready room that has a lot of natural light coming in! It’s easy for your getting ready space to get cluttered with bags, garbage, snacks, etc. quickly, so if there’s a separate side room to keep that out of the way, we’ll have clean, well-lit getting-ready photos. Keep in mind that a lot of your photos happen during getting ready, so you really want to love the space you're in.

I’m always team-Airbnb or venue suite since you can have multiple rooms to put everyone’s stuff! Plus, there is usually a lot more space than a hotel room for everyone to relax and enjoy the morning without feeling cramped!

HAIR & MAKEUP ADDITIONAL TIME
I recommend an extra 2 hours for hair and makeup than you think you'll need! Your stylists will know best about how long each person will take to get hair and makeup done, but I'd rather have you sipping champagne and having a dance party in your robes than stressing over a late timeline if things run behind. I would encourage you to have hair and makeup scheduled to be done around 30 minutes before you're scheduled to get dressed. This gives you some buffer time if needed.

GATHER YOUR DETAILS
Please have all of your and your partner's details gathered before I arrive! My biggest recommendation is to put them all in one box or bag a few days ahead of time, so they are all in one place. This includes:

All 3 rings, invitation suite, jewelry, shoes, dress, veil, hair pieces, perfume, tie/bowtie, watch, cufflinks, shoes, socks, cologne, boutonnières, & anything else they want photographed!

HAVE YOUR BOUQUET ARRIVE BEFORE PHOTO COVERAGE BEGINS
If possible, have your florist deliver the bouquet and boutonnières BEFORE I am scheduled to arrive. This ensures they will be included with all of the other detail photos! If they can include a few extra loose florals and greenery for detail photos, that's always a nice touch!

RING BOX
It's not a must, but if you love a custom touch, a ring box in your wedding colors or with your initials will help to personalize your details! My favorite places to buy them are from Etsy and The Mrs Box.

GETTING DRESSED
Anyone else helping you two get dressed (someone helping zip dress, put suit jacket on, etc.) should be ready AT LEAST 15 minutes before your scheduled getting dressed time. This ensures they are dressed and ready to be in these special photos with you.

MAIL THE SAVE THE DATE & INVITATION
I'd love to receive a copy of your save the date and wedding invitation if you have extras! Please feel free to reach out if you need my mailing address! It's also listed in our contract.

PARTNER'S PREP
My second photographer will be the one photographing your partner's getting ready photos before we all meet up for your first look or ceremony. If they want anything specific photographed beyond details and getting ready photos, please make sure to communicate that with me as we put the timeline together. I've had people want to go bowling the day of their wedding, so we were able to capture some photos of that beforehand!

First Looks

I truly want you to know there is no pressure or obligation to see each other before your ceremony if you don't want to. However, there are many benefits and reasons why most of my couples choose to do a first look. I want to share them, so you can decide what feels right for you.

A first look is when you arrange a private time to see each other before the ceremony. The only people present are the two of you, your photographers, and your videographers (unless you choose to have anyone else present).

Although I personally love a first look, I encourage you to do whatever feels most genuine, exciting, and true to you. The benefits below are here to help you decide what you value most and whether a first look is right for you!

There is no right or wrong here, promise!

Benefits of a First Look

TIME TOGETHER
Throughout the wedding day, it's rare to find a ton of alone time! This allows you to have a chance to be together one-on-one for a dedicated amount of time and soak it all in without a ton of eyes on you. You'll see each other a few hours before the ceremony, which means you'll spend a lot more time together on your big day than apart.

MORE PORTRAITS IN YOUR FINAL GALLERY
You can enjoy taking all of your portraits without feeling rushed during cocktail hour. With that extra time alloted for portraits, you'll receive more variety in your gallery! More time makes taking photos a lot more enjoyable because there's no stress or pressure to get it done super fast!

FRESH HAIR AND MAKEUP
Your hair and make up is fresh for all of your portraits since it'll be done right before your first look instead of waiting until after the ceremony to take your photos!

YOU CAN ENJOY COCKTAIL HOUR
We'll take the majority of your wedding photos before the ceremony begins. We will jump right into your couple photos, wedding party photos, and even family photos before ceremony! This means you and your loved ones won't miss out on cocktail hour because they have to take pictures after the ceremony.

IT DIMINISHES NERVES
So many couples say their nerves went away after they saw each other! It helps you to feel more relaxed and makes the ceremony more enjoyable. You’ll remember your ceremony much better, because you aren't feeling as nervous. Otherwise, it feels like a blur!

PRIVATE VOWS
Many of my couples prefer to keep their vows intimate and private instead of reading them during the ceremony. After your first look is the perfect time to share those special words with each other and really connect before the day truly begins!

Parent First Looks

If you and your parent are especially close, a first look with them is one of the sweetest ways to honor your relationship. It gives them the opportunity to see you and your whole look before everything gets busy, and it's a special time for you to connect one-on-one.

These easily become some of my favorite parts of the day, because they are so emotional and meaningful. If you want this in your timeline, we'll make sure to add in an extra 10-15 minutes for such a special moment to happen!

Wedding Party First Looks

A first look with your wedding party is super cute if you want to do it! It's extra special if they haven't seen your attire yet, since it's the perfect way to show it to them and to capture their priceless reactions at the same time.

It typically takes about 10 minutes during the getting ready portion of the day. We usually want to ensure that everyone is dressed and ready by the time you're ready to see them, so good communication and timeline planning is a must if you want to add this into your day!

Unplugged Ceremonies

Unplugged ceremonies make the request that your guests turn off their phones for the ceremony. The goal is that everyone you love is fully present and engaged in the moment, rather than focused on taking pictures of it. This also allows your photo and video team to work without worry of getting guests' phones in the way. The most common request for unplugged is when you're walking down the aisle, because it's not ideal to have guests sticking their phone out into the aisle and blocking such a special moment!

Guests are typically very respectful if you ask them not to take photos during the ceremony, and it reflects beautifully in your photos when everyone fully present and attentive on you.

To make this happen at your ceremony, you may need to have it mentioned a few times. Most couples put a sign at the entrance of the ceremony that encourages guests to put away their devices, but this often gets ignored. A line on your ceremony program that requests no devices can help, but also often gets missed. The most helpful way to make sure the message is heard is to have your officiant announce it before anyone walks down the aisle. Truthfully, I don't mind if people take a few photos during the ceremony, but it's truly just for everyone walking down the aisle that it's most ideal to have phones away!

It really is so special to look back on your gallery and see everyone witnessing you two getting married, instead of staring at their screens.

Family Formals

About 2-3 months out from your wedding, I will send you a pre-wedding questionnaire where you'll share the exact shot list you'd like for your family photos. Try to keep the list to around 20 groupings maximum, so it doesn't take too long and you two don't get exhausted from too many photos. We can always take more casual group photos during cocktail hour or the reception!

Here is an example shot list for you to get started:

1ST PARTNER'S FAMILY
Couple with Full Family (parents, step parents, grandparents, siblings)
Couple with each set of grandparents
Couple with parents & siblings
Couple with parents
Couple with siblings
1st Partner with parents

BOTH FAMILIES
Couple with all parents
Couple with all parents & siblings

2ND PARTNER'S FAMILY
Couple with Full Family (parents, step parents, grandparents, siblings)
Couple with each set of grandparents
Couple with parents & siblings
Couple with parents
Couple with siblings
1st Partner with parents

I recommend saving the large extended group photo with aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. for immediately after the ceremony or casually during the reception on the dance floor! You can choose to take them during family photos, but everyone must be present an hour before the ceremony (if you're doing a first look) to make it happen!

Sunset Portraits

Sunset portraits are some of the most beautiful 10-15 minutes of portraits you'll take on your wedding day. Depending on the time of the sunset, we can sneak out quickly during cocktail hour or reception (in-between events, of course) if you want pictures in that dreamy, glowy sunset light!

This also gives you another chance to slow down and reconnect alone, which can sometimes be a nice moment away from the excitement, noise, and energy!

If it ends up being overcast, we may still luck out with a beautiful sunset or we can use that time to take some portraits at a different location at your venue we didn't hit earlier in the day!

Ceremony Exit

You have so many options if you want to spice up your walk back down the aisle from your ceremony!

Some fun ideas include: ribbon wands, dried or fresh flower petals, biodegradable confetti, and bubbles!

Make sure your officiant mentions what to do and when (especially for the guests right along the aisle) so everyone doesn't forget to toss petals, wave ribbons, etc.

Pro tip: Stop halfway down the aisle for a biiig dip kiss!

Reception Exit

Although I'm seeing fewer reception exits (my couples like to end the night on the dance floor!), there are still so many fun options if you love the idea of an exit! Sparklers, bubbles, glow sticks, rose petals, smoke bombs, driving away in a vintage car, etc.!

If your photography coverage ends before the end of your reception, you have the option of planning a "mock" exit with just your wedding party! This is more common than you may think. Instead of saving your exit until the very end of the night, you can plan to pop out with your wedding party and immediately family to have a fun little celebratory moment together. This allows us to get the photos you want without having to stop the party for your guests!

Pro Tip:
Make sure to get the SUPER extra long sparklers and multiple powerful lighters (if your venue doesn't provide them)! The giant sparklers last the longest and look best in photos!

Rainy Weddings

One of the most common questions I get asked is, "what happens if it rains on my wedding day?!" While this may not feel ideal or match the sunny day you envision while planning, I want to encourage you that you can still have an incredible day, even if it's rainy. Your photos will still be GORGEOUS!
Here are a few quick tips to keep in mind:

1. Overcast skies = perfect lighting. Sunlight, especially midday, is actually very harsh. Rainy days give that perfect, soft, natural lighting, no matter where you take your photos! This gives you perfect lighting and the ability to use a lot more locations that would otherwise be ruled out for harsh lighting. Of course, we all love golden, sunlit photos, but overcast skies have their advantages, for sure!

2. Let me worry about the photos. On your wedding, the only thing you should worry about is being present and enjoying your day! :) Weather is the one thing you cannot control, so try to let it go and embrace the day as it is!

3. Consider going outside. Typically, we luck out with light sprinkles instead of all-day downpours, so going outside is still definitely doable if you're up for it! Areas with large trees and overhangs on the side of buildings can be super helpful for couple portraits and wedding party photos. I always bring cute, clear bubble umbrellas that look great in photos and keep you nice and covered!

4. Have a rain plan. Especially if you are having an outdoor wedding, this is very important! Be sure to communicate to your vendors what they should do if it rains on your wedding day. That way, if the situation arises, everyone will already know what YOU want for your day. Know your venue's rain plan EARLY – you want to know that you still love this option if it comes up!

Reception Formalities

It's typically best to schedule the big events of your reception within the first hour or so – first dances, parent dances, and toasts. Sometimes older guests or guests with children will leave shortly after dinner, so having the main events while guests are still present will allow you to share those moments with everyone. Also, if it matters to you, you may be sweatier or your hair and makeup may have fallen a bit if you wait until later in the night to do your first dance and parents dances.

I always find that doing the special dances and toasts all around the same time makes for a better flow of the evening. From your guests' perspective – if they’re asked to get up and dance for 2-3 songs, then asked to go to their seats for the next toast or dance, and then back up for dancing, then back for the first course, and so on, it ends up kind of killing the vibe and energy that your band or DJ gets going. Once you have people on the dance floor, it's great to let them enjoy and not stop them from partying too many times. Of course, it's up to you two and the venue's experience, but I love seeing the crowd get pumped for dancing, and it seems to slow them down when there is a lot of stopping and starting! It's definitely always nice to have some dance breaks still, though!

Albums & Prints

Once the wedding excitement has simmered down, you’re going to be left with a gallery of images on your computer to scroll through and, sadly, the memories may slowly start to fade year after year. Now that’s not to scare you, but as you begin your journey as a married couple, I hope you start to find the beauty in tangible memories, like printed photos on your walls and heirloom albums on your coffee table. You’ll share this book with your loved ones while you’re all curled up in a fuzzy blanket on the couch. You’ll one day be flipping through these pages while telling stories of the day you said, “I do.” This album isn’t just for you and your spouse to enjoy, although I hope you will keep it well-loved. This album is for the generations of family before and after you. You’ll share this album with them, and the love story that started it all. Your legacy. Whew, anyone else get the chills?! Yeah, same.

Your wedding album is a 10 x 10” custom-designed and fully archival book with high-quality images printed on thick pages that don’t bend. The pages open up to lay-flat panoramic spreads. It comes with 20 spreads (40 pages) to fully tell the story of your wedding day. The linen cover material comes in a variety of colors and styles. Most album designs include approximately 80-90 images, depending on each album’s unique design. The design process allows for a few rounds of revisions if necessary and full consideration for the images that mean the most to you. I have plenty more information about albums that I will send you once you receive your final gallery!

10X10" WEDDING ALBUM | $1,500
8X8” LOVE STORY BOOK | $500
8X8" PARENT ALBUM | $800

Prints and canvases are available in your online gallery shop

The process is super simple! I'll do the heavy lifting by selecting the first round of images for my album designer to use! These will mostly come from your sneak peeks! My professional designer will lay out beautiful spreads that best tell the story of your day! I can't wait for you to see the first draft come together!

Design

01 of 03

After you receive the first draft of your wedding album, you'll go in and request any revisions that you want! Think: swapping an image with another from the gallery, adding an extra spread with more photos you love, or rearranging the images and changing the order! It's totally up to you how your album looks in the end!

Revise

02 of 03

After 2 - 3 rounds of revisions are complete, I'll send over a questionnaire for you to choose the cover color, text on the front cover, any additional parent albums, and a beautiful wooden keepsake box for your album to sit in! This is where you put your finishing touches on the album before it gets sent to your home!
